UVB Soloists, Chamber Choir & Orchestra Present Handel's L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato
Saturday, April 5 @ 3 pm • Chandler Music Hall
Handel’s masterwork — a dramatic setting of texts inspired by John Milton and William Shakespeare — explores joyful, sad, and “moderate” musings. In English, with featured renowned soprano Amanda Forsythe.
English Poems by John Milton set in a musical dialogue on life perspectives.
Filippo Ciabatti, Artistic Director
The VFO plays traditional and contemporary fiddle and dance tunes from the British Isles, Ireland, Scandinavia, Quebec, Appalachia, New England, Vermont and beyond. The orchestra is directed by Peter Macfarlane, a long-standing member of the Vermont fiddle community who originally hails from the other side of “the pond,” and who is a member of the bands Atlantic Crossing, and Frost and Fire. Peter is assisted by Susan Reid, a well-known local fiddler and a member of the band Larks in the Attic.
The April 6th concert will include tunes played by the orchestra and by ensembles composed of orchestra members. Admission is by donation. For more information visit www.vermontfiddleorchestra.org
