Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry (1955) — a dark comedy filmed on location in Vermont — returns to the big screen as part of Hollywood, VT at the Playhouse, a local series celebrating Vermont-connected films. Shot primarily in Craftsbury Common and surrounding towns, premiered in Barre, the film turns the discovery of a dead body into a surprisingly polite small-town affair and introduced Shirley MacLaine in her screen debut. The event includes trivia, archival images, works on display by Vermont artivist Rachi Farrow, and a limited run of original commemorative artwork for sale by Hettie Stearns.

Often compared to a young Miriam Makeba with a touch of Tina Turner, the multiple SAMA and Metro FM Award nominee blends her African heritage with the soul and Motown sounds she grew up with. Her performances are cathartic and electrifying, praised worldwide for their raw emotional force.

Nomfusi has shared the stage with Lionel Richie at Germany’s Stimmen Festival and was selected to portray Miriam Makeba in Long Walk to Freedom, the Nelson Mandela biopic described by The Hollywood Reporter as “the largest South   ...

The Lissa Schneckenburger Trio

Saturday Feb 28th 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
@ Chandler Center for the Arts

Join fiddler and vocalist Lissa Schneckenburger with Rachel Aucoin on piano and Samuel Foucher on accordion for an intimate evening of music in the Esther Mesh Room. Written during the first year of the pandemic, Schneckenburger’s newest work emerged from a period of deep isolation, reflection, and creative urgency. With touring paused, writing became a lifeline, resulting in a wealth of new music and the album Falling Forward. Recorded in person after months of separation, the music ranges from joyful, dance driven fiddle tunes to quieter, introspective moments. Blending her deep roots in New England traditional music with a renewed focus on original composition, Schneckenburger offers music for both meditation and release, reflecting our shared experience of recent years.
