2024 is an election year and Election Day is November 5th. You have probably already gotten your ballot in the mail. If you haven't, or if you want to know if your ballot has been received, you can check this link at the Secretary Of State's website to get more information. Here are details about how you can vote.
If you received your ballot you can fill it out and mail it back, or drop it off with the Town Clerk, or leave it in the ballot box outside of Town Hall. On Election Day, come to the Town Hall at 7 Summer Street (map) in Randolph between 7 am and 7 pm on Election Day and you can vote or drop off your completed ballot.
Vermont is one of twenty-two states that offer Election Day voter registration, so if you are not already registered you can register on Election Day. If you need to register, please bring some identification with you.
If you can't get to the Town Hall but you still want to vote, someone can come to your house and deliver a ballot to you and bring it back to the Town Hall. You must ask for this service from the Town Clerk at least the day before the election.
The Town Hall is fully accessible. If you can get to the Town Hall but you don't want to come inside, you can vote from your car.
Vermont is very inclusive about people's right to vote. Anyone who is a US citizen, a resident of Vermont, 18 or older on Election Day, and registered can vote. You may be able to vote and not know it. Incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people retain their right to vote in Vermont. People without a fixed address can vote. There is an accessible voting machine at Town Hall, which you can use if you have a physical or visual disability.
The election is staffed by the Town Clerk, the elected Justices of the Peace, and sometimes other volunteers. You'll probably see a friendly face! Also you will get a sticker, if you want one.
If you want to talk to a person about voting, you can come by the Town Hall on Election Day, or call beforehand. The Town Clerk's name is Tammy Munyon and her assistant's name is Lori Keene and you can reach them at (802) 728-5433 ext. 11 and ext. 12. If you would like to read more about the voting process and get a description of the different positions that are on the ballot, you can download the Voter’s Guide for People with Disabilities (pdf) which is a helpful toolkit for anyone to learn more about voting.
The results of the election are usually posted the next day in the Town Hall.
Voting helps choose the people who will run our federal, state, and local government. It's important. Hope to see you on Election Day!
